The equipment I would be using for the second unRAID machine is an old Dell inspiron tower w/ an Intel Core2Quad . and then use a smart plug to cycle the power off to on.īut I need help on the best way to shut the system down, as I'm thinking using the smart plug to simply turn the power off would be a very poor way to do it!! To turn second unRAID machine on my thought is to set the BIOS to 'turn on after power loss'. So to save the electricity I want to find a way to have the second unRAID box to turn it's self off. However I'm thinking that second unRAID box only needs to be turned on maybe 1 - 2 hours a day to sync all the changes for that day. My intention is to use Syncthing to back up some docs/files from main unRAID to second unRAID. I'm playing with the idea of putting together a second unRAID box to be a back up to my main unRAID NAS.
